  2.     DEVICE OPERATIONS

  4.     You can use this module to check retention of a logical device or
  5.     erase all data on the backup media.
  6.  
  7.     This program only works if the backup media is a tape device. The
  8.     Tape Operations window, shown below, displays all configured backup
  9.     devices and their descriptions.
  10.  
  11.     The rest of this section describes how to use the buttons in this
  12.     window.
  13.  
  14.     Retention
  15.  
  16.     You should use this option prior to using a tape for the first time
  17.     or if it has been quite a while since the tape has been used.
  18.     Highlight the logical device and click on the Retention button. A
  19.     window will appear confirming the action.
  20.  
  21.     Erase
  22.  
  23.     You can use this program to delete all data on the backup media,
  24.     e.g., to erase or clean tapes. Highlight the logical device you wish
  25.     to erase, then click on the Erase button. A window will appear
  26.     asking for confirmation of the action. You should use this security
  27.     precaution when a tape's use changes.
